5/27 - Prayer: A Place of Authority

“Daniel answered, Blessed be the name of God forever! For wisdom and might are His! He changes the times and the seasons, He removes kings and sets up kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding! He reveals the deep and secret things, He knows what is in the darkness and the light dwells with Him!” (Daniel 2:20-22)

When God created man, He gave him dominion over all the works of his hands. “Now in putting everything in subjection to man, He left nothing outside of man’s control.” (Hebrews 2:8) Paul goes on to explain that even though at present we don’t yet see all things subjected to man, but we do see Jesus. It’s only through Christ that we have access to God’s power and the right to exercise authority in the earth.

“The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s, but the earth has He given to the children of men.” Yes, the earth is the Lord’s, He created it. Then He made man and made him the steward of His creation. The purpose of the Son of God coming was to destroy the works of the devil. Jesus defeated and disarmed Satan through His death on the cross. His work being finished, Christ restored man’s lost authority back to him.

God awaits the prayers of His people so that He can move in the earth. Because of His faithfulness, the Lord will not break or alter His covenant, nor the word that is gone out of His lips. (Ps. 89:34) He has not reneged upon His original plan for man to rule. No power, neither heavenly or demonic, has the right to operate in the earth without man’s permission.

When we pray in faith to our Father, heaven’s power is released. Using our authority to resist the devil, his works are destroyed. Hannah prayed and her barren womb conceived. Hezekiah prayed and God gave him fifteen more years to live. When Paul and Silas prayed, God’s power shook the prison so hard that the doors flew open and their chains came off.

Are you facing a situation that seems impossible? Do you want to see a great revival? Take God’s Word and enter into the secret place with Him. He’s waiting on you!

Prayer - Bless Your Holy Name, Lord! I’m so thankful that your eye is upon the righteous and your ear is open to our prayers. Today, I come into your presence and make my requests known with thanksgiving. Teach me, Lord, to walk in places of authority and to be always watching in the Spirit. In the name of Jesus, amen!
