5/31 Standing in the Gap
“Moses said unto Aaron, take a censer and put fire in it from off the altar and lay incense on it, and carry it quickly to the congregation and make atonement for them. For there is wrath gone out from the Lord; the plague has begun! So Aaron . . . made atonement for the people. And he stood between the dead and the living, and the plague was stayed.” Numbers 16:46-48
The prophet, Daniel, said that God changes the times and the seasons. As I have looked out of my office window for the last couple of months, I’ve watched as winter turned to spring. Everything that was dead is now green and teeming with new life.
That makes me think of all the people that are spiritually dead just waiting for something that will make them come alive. All of creation waits expectantly and longs earnestly for the manifestation of the sons of God. We’re the only hope for many who are lost in sin.
More than likely, you know someone that doesn’t know Christ as their Savior. It may be an acquaintance or even a family member. From outward appearances, it may seem like there’s no hope. However, with God, nothing is impossible. I learned long ago that it’s never too late for God to turn things around. All He needs is for you to be a mediator.
A mediator is one who stands between two beings that have considerable differences. Someone has to act as an intercessor in behalf of sinful men in order to reconcile them to a holy God. They are blinded by Satan lest they should believe the gospel of Christ and be saved. That’s why God’s people have been given authority to bind and loose through the Name of Jesus. We must combat the forces of darkness and stand in the gap by interceding for them night and day. Break the power of the devil off of their lives and claim their salvation. Plead the blood of Jesus and refuse to give up on them.
Prayer - Father God, you have given me access into your presence through the Blood of Jesus. I come boldly lifting up these lost ones to you. As I call their names, I pray for their salvation and deliverance from the kingdom of darkness. I commit to intercede for them until I see them born again, in the name of Jesus, amen!
